'Alphabetical Disorders' is a typographic exploration of teenage turbulence I had created as a part 36 Days of Type↗ challenge back in 2017. 36 DOT is an annual and global online challenge that has essentially proved to be a celebration of type and creativity, involving designers, illustrators, type lovers and creatives from all around the globe. Each designer designs alphabets and numerals in their own style. In my case, I only got to the alphabets.

My aim was to create an illustrative series that transforms the 26 letters into visual metaphors for the psychological, social, and emotional challenges faced by teenagers. From anxiety attacks to sleep deprivation, each letter embodies a specific issue.

The project uses a limited color palette and a playful yet thoughtful illustrative style to make these often-stigmatized topics more approachable. Each letterform is crafted from objects, symbols, and scenarios that teenagers immediately recognize. The dark background serves as a visual metaphor for the isolation many teens feel while navigating these disorders.

While created as part of the global 36 Days of Type challenge, 'Alphabetical Disorders' goes beyond typographic exercise to start conversations about mental health and adolescent struggles. The series acknowledges that growing up isn't just about physical changes, it's about weathering a storm of internal and external pressures, one letter at a time.
